"Hey, remember Nick?" Kelsey looked over at her friend as she took a sip from her drink. "The basketball player, right?" Daniel's eyes rolled up and to the right, his memory working hard. It was my last semester of university. I was proud of myself. I had gone my whole life without ever taking academic performance enhancing drugs. I knew friends with prescriptions. The world needs more people like you, Colbie Caillat. Most people recognize her from her hit, "Bubbly." But recently she's done something that should start a new trend. I have never been a fan of Angelina Jolie. Personally I always disliked her after the whole love triangle with Brad and Jen. And I thought Tomb Raider was overrated. Whatever. I have to respect her acting in the new film Maleficent, a new take on the classic Sleeping Beauty, which was a take on Little Briar…Read more Maleficent the Magnificent

The Internet is currently on fire following a piece on Forbes that was initially titled “Hip Hop Is Run By A White, Blonde, Australian Woman” but was changed after the backlash forced Forbes to realize what an absurd claim they were making. The new title is “Hip Hop’s Unlikely New Star: A White, Blonde, Australian Woman.”
I’m annoyed for multiple reasons. Let’s discuss them, shall we?
First off, I wouldn’t go to an Iggy Azalea concert if it were happening on my front porch. While I understand (somewhat confusedly) that she does have something of a fan base, anyone who has any love for hip-hop is currently decrying the notion that this woman “runs” hip-hop. Or anything at all, really. But that’s why the article title was changed, right? Because it (as the update reads) “did not accurately reflect the content of the piece.” Nor does it…

Recently I read an article. It gave me the strength and the courage I needed. I'm coming out of the closet as well. I am proud to be a straight softball player! For my Hip Hop Philosophy class, we were supposed to write a 6-page paper. This is the same paper I mentioned in my previous post. We were to pick a hip hop artist and make an argument that he or she is a philosopher in his or her own right. I actually worked really hard…Read more My Final Paper

Tradition. Traditions help keep the spirit alive at Texas A&M. In 1922, April 21 became the official day for Muster. The show on Discovery Channel is quite intriguing. If you have never heard of it, you should check it out. I feel very incompetent after watching some of those survivalists...But I digress. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihoR9B7p-1Q Harish Manwani gave this excellent TED Talk about business models. I’m grateful to have read this now while I still have some of my 20’s left.
I have two younger brothers in their 20’s. The older of the two is turning 29 this year and in honor of his last year as a twenty-something, I’m sharing my take on this important decade.
When I was in my 20’s I was a real asshole, as was just about everyone I’ve ever known who passed through that decade. I’m not at all saying that you two specifically are assholes and I don’t mean to offend anyone reading this. Every decade that we have the honor of living gets summed up with the virtue of hindsight and I like to refer to my 20’s as The Asshole Years. I use the word as a way to describe how people in their 20’s are sometimes perceived and if we’re lucky enough to be over 30, we were assholes too (and might still be). These are my experiences and…
